The method
You do not rise to the occasion. You default to your last level of training.
Most instruction puts you on the line with live ammunition on day one, and what you build is a range habit. We build the manipulation first, cold and repeated, until it is muscle memory. Only then does the round go in. It is slower at the start, and it is the reason the skill holds when it matters.
Sessions 1–2
Safety and handling
Safe manipulation, presentation from the holster, and the accountability rules that never get relaxed. Firearms stay secured and cased until you are told otherwise.
Sessions 2–3
Dry-fire repetition
Structured dry-fire protocols with snap caps. Draw, present, trigger, reset, reload, clear the malfunction. Repeated until it is automatic rather than considered.
Sessions 3–4
Movement and decision
Positioning, movement, and the law and tactics that govern when you may act at all. The decision is trained as hard as the draw.
Session 4 onward
Live fire
Marksmanship and slow-fire discipline, then performance under pressure. The mechanics are already yours by now, so range time goes into skill rather than basics.
No live fire for the first three to four sessions. That is deliberate. Foundation comes first.
